If you’ve been here with me for any length of time, you know that I love working in the Akashic Records. (After all, that is what my dearest creation is named for, isn’t it?)
I’ve worked with energy healing for years, and the Akashic Records has been the way that I help people connect with and understand their Soul purpose.
But the other day in my Facebook group, I received a lot of interest in a topic that I really hadn’t talked much about before–Channeling.
Now, especially if you’re new to energy healing and spiritual work, all of these concepts–Akashic Records, Channeling, Spirit Connections–they might all sound the same, right?
And while it’s true that Channeling and working in the Akashic Records have some common ground, there are some distinctive differences.
So by special request from my Facebook group, l’d love to share with you what it means to “channel” how it’s different from the Records, and how you can decide what modality is most aligned with your personal path.
(And if you haven’t joined the Facebook Group yet, make sure to come on over and join us at the Akashic Records Institute! It’s a highly energetic and welcoming community, and I’d love to see you there!)
So let’s talk a little bit about channeling first!
“Channeling” is a direct communication between us humans and the Spirit world. In other words, a direct exchange between a person and a spirit entity.
When I was a child growing up in Brazil, my father was a Shaman. And he did a lot of community work where channeling was involved.
I remember going to my his house on the weekends, watching the ceremonies and spiritual work that they did. I experienced it from afar, seeing those in Brazil who directly channeled Spirits themselves.
One of my most memorable moments with my father’s work came when I was somewhere between the ages of 5 and 7 years old. It was a moment with a message, but one that wouldn’t become entirely clear for many years to come.
I was with my dad, and there was a woman participating in the ceremony. She happened to be channeling the spirit who was visiting at the time.
The woman looked at me and she said, “she is going to dress white”.
What did that mean? Well, the language that was used during these ceremonies was not quite as literal as everyday conversations, so in this case it had nothing to do with a wedding dress or a communion gown!
What she meant by “dress white” was “work as a healer”.
Of course, being a little one at the time, I didn’t think too much about it and just went on my merry way….
But then some years later, during a time when I was visiting United States, I had a very vivid and powerful dream. And that earlier message from the spirit came back to me very strongly.
It was then that I knew that I was to be a healer in this lifetime–and that I truly was intended to “dress white”.
From that time on, everything guided me to connect to the Akashic Records–and use that connection to do the healing work I needed to do.
It was a prayer and a premonition, that message I received all those years ago. And it led me to exactly what I do today.
So you can see that channeling is something I’ve experienced throughout my life, both as an outside observer and also as a recipient of its divine messages.
Now let’s talk a little bit about how channeling actually works…
See, with channeling, spirits either speak through you, or they speak AS you. Channeling is actually facilitating communication between humans and spirits, and it usually happens in one of two ways:
There’s the kind of channeling where the spirit takes over someone’s body and actually speaks AS that person.
There’s also the kind of channeling where spirit will whisper it’s messages in your ear, allowing you to translate it in your own voice and through your own filter.
So basically the spirits will either communicate their message THROUGH you–or AS you.
For example, Esther Hicks connects to the spirits and Abraham speaks directly through her–this is an example of channeling by allowing Spirit to deliver it’s message by speaking AS someone.
Another example would be John of God. If you’ve never heard of him, he is a well-known medium and healer from Brazil. He helps people cure many different illnesses by channeling the spirits of other healers, basically using his abilities as a medium to facilitate miraculous healings here on earth.
So the thing with channeling is that it involves allowing a Spirit to use your body to bring forth its messages, whether it be speaking through you or as you.
Pretty intense, right?
Now, although I did follow in my father’s footsteps in a sense that I now do healing work, I have to say that I personally do not perform channeling.
Not because there is anything wrong with the practice, of course! It’s just because channeling is not how I connect with Spirit. For me personally, I would rather not have another entity take over my body (as I have my boundaries!).
Now, as you know, my expertise is working in the Akashic Records. Now I’ll go into the records in more detail so you can see how it’s similar–and yet also has some key differences.
When you connect to your Akashic Records, you connect to your personal guides. They help you decode and understand the information within by using your intuitive channels.
This means that you receive wisdom, gain insight, and actually connect with your Soul’s true purpose. And of course, this leads to alignment with your path.
With the Akashic Records, you can see your Soul’s big picture without the interference of day-to-day life on earth.
Now, here’s another thing about the records and how it relates to channeling….
When you work with the Akashic Records, you actually work in the energy of the Fifth dimension, which is a little different than what happens with channeling. In channeling, most of the work with spirits is actually the energy of the Fourth dimension.
You might be thinking right now–okay, but what are dimensions? And that is what I’ll explain right now!
See, we live in the here in the Third dimension. That is, everything is solid, it has density.
It’s a comparatively low-vibe place to be.
That is, most of us live in an illusion–the illusion that physical reality is all that there is.
Now, when you move into the Fourth dimension, there is a mixture of energy–there are places of high and low density, there is good and evil–the positive and negative energy is in a constant swirl.
This means that while there’s a lot of potential for healing here, there’s also that element of the other side–the darkness and the light both live here.
So the Fourth dimension actually provides a transition between the Third and the Fifth dimensions.
Because in the Fifth Dimension, it’s different–that is, everything is energy.
So when someone comes in for an Akashic Records session, where the vibration is so much higher to start with–there’s really no set in stone way to determine what is going to happen. It’s a matter of connecting, feeling, and knowing.
It’s more like, we are asking “what is the soul lesson here”? What is it that the Soul needs to embrace, what does it need to shift to be in alignment with its purpose?
And of course, that doesn’t necessarily follow a set of rules or a specific process. It simply reveals itself.
So it’s a higher vibration just to start with when you work in the Akashic Records, and that is one of the most distinctive ways that this kind of work is different than channeling.
Now, how do you know what spiritual connection path is right for you? Are you here to actually channel Spirits, or would connecting through the high energy of the Akashic Records be more your cup of tea?
When you’re beginning with spiritual or healing work, the most important thing to have is discernment. That means to take the time, get in touch with yourself and develop your intuition first. Give yourself a chance to fully understand how you receive information, whether it is through images, things that you hear, what you feel in your body, or what you simply “just know”.
Your intuition and its development comes first here. So I encourage my students to start right there. Connect to your intuition. Feel the energy in your body. And start to discern the difference between what feels right to you so that you can trust yourself and your feelings.
From here, allow yourself to be guided to the means that is most aligned with your true self and your true path.
But really, there is no right or wrong way to act as a healer, in my opinion! All that is necessary is to be in alignment with your personal path, that your spiritual connection is aligned with you. And in my case, working with the Akashic Records is what is most aligned with me.
In the end, though, it is all about knowing what is right for you. Start with taking the time to get in touch with yourself and your intuition, let your discernment and your trust in your own feelings come about, and allow yourself to be guided to the most aligned way to connect with Spirit.
