Welcoming and embracing change starts with taking the first step of making a decision and then acting on it.  People use the New Year as a time for making resolutions based on changing something in their lives.  I find it quite fascinating how different people relate so differently to change.

Embracing Change I love change, and I consider myself quite adaptable.  I had to be, otherwise, I would never be here writing to you today.  However, I know many people do not like change and find it tricky to stay focused, this blog will share with you a few insights I have learned to help you succeed with embracing change in the new year!

Listening to your heart or inner voice

When I receive guidance, I usually do not question it, I let the idea come to me and I start taking immediate focused action to make it happen.

That was pretty much how I moved from Brazil to the United states 17 years ago.  I met a girl at a party and she shared with me her experience when she moved to Miami, and how much learning and positive growth that decision had brought to her life.

So the next day, at the breakfast table, as I greeted my lovely grandma, I shared with her:

You know… I think I will move to the United States.” and my grandma said: “Sure, Patricia, well do you want cereal or eggs for breakfast?

Long story short, my grandma either did not believe I was serious, or that I had it in me to just take off and make it happen in another country.

Make Your Decision to Change

At the time I was on my 20’s, had just graduated from my BA in industrial design, I had also been laid off from a very cushy job, and so was spending my days rock climbing with my other unemployed friends! LOL life was good, but deep down something was telling me that there was more to it, that I was supposed to do something else with my life and that changing my environment was the first step to take.

And so I did, I started looking into some options and a few months after that conversation at the breakfast table with my grandma, with $600 bucks in my pockets, a bag of dreams and an invitation to be a roommate of a friend, I left all the comfort and security of my family, my hometown and my language to go to make a life in a new country.  I knew that if things went wrong I could use the return flight valid for one year to go home.

Take Focused Action

That day, 17 years ago, was the best decision I made in my life, and this action of course was followed by many other amazing decisions. But it all started by that one decision at my grandma’s breakfast table. Was life always a bed of roses? Of course not! But every challenge I faced living abroad made me stronger, made me have a desire to change, made me take action towards what I wanted to manifest.

I learnt that no matter what has happened before in the past you can start over again and create a new experience.  I learnt to focus on having fun and making friends who wanted to see me succeed and prosper!

Don’t Let Others Stop Your Belief

What is the next desired change coming up for you in your life? I hope you take action to manifest it!

Of course if I did not believe in my self so strongly like I did, that day at my grandma’s breakfast table, I could just have let her silent answer to my desire for change stop me, and keep me stuck where I was…

I really believe that everyone can make it happen whatever they want to achieve, and all they need to do is let go of old beliefs or other people’s beliefs of what is possible for them. It saddens my heart that there are so many people that go through their whole life with a dream inside of them and that so many never give themselves the permission to listen to their inner voice and just go for it!
