Were you in the path of the eclipse on August 21st, 2017? If you’re here in the US, you might’ve gotten the chance to see it for yourself. But even if you didn’t get a chance to watch it with your own eyes (and with protective glasses, of course!), I bet that you experienced the energy of this special event.

Now, I’m not an astrology expert, but I felt a very powerful and creative energy that day. What I have learned since then is that the effects of this eclipse will be with us for a long time to come. That creative and expansive energy that began on August 21st was simply the beginning.

What stood out to me the most was the energy of creativity. The energy of joy. And also the energy of leadership. All of these were a powerful combination. It reminded me that the weeks and months to come will be an extraordinary time for stepping up, sharing our gifts, and becoming leaders.

Tell me, do you consider yourself a leader?

Now, when I say “leader”, I don’t necessarily mean the person who leads nations or someone who has millions of social media followers. It’s not about having the entire world follow you.

I feel that a leader is simply someone who knows their own truth and has the courage to follow it. Someone who goes out into the world honoring that truth. Someone who shares their gifts with those who could benefit from them the most.

If you have something important to share with the world, you’re a leader. If you honor and follow your own personal truth, you’re a leader. If you share your truth regardless of what other people might say, you’re a leader. If you share your gifts with the ones who need them the most, you’re a leader. Whether it be in your business, in your family, or in your life.

It’s not about how many people love you. It’s about being in alignment with your gifts and sharing them with passion.

So what makes a leader? I’ve come up with a few things that I have found not only in the leaders in my life but also have found in myself. And I bet that you have all of these qualities, too, whether you know it now or not.

Leaders are not afraid to ask for help. They know that they can’t fulfill their missions alone and they ask for help and support when they need it. Sometimes it’s hard to ask for help. You might be afraid of being rejected if you reach out for support.

There might be memories from your childhood, maybe a time where you asked for help but did not receive it. Sometimes those old memories are projected on your present day reality, even if they’re not true anymore.

The belief that other people will reject you or not support you is definitely a fear for potential leaders. That brings me to my next point.

Leaders share their gifts with the world without fear. (Eventually). I’ve been working with the Akashic Records for 20 years. But did you know that at one point, I was in sort of an “Akashic Records Closet”? Believe it or not, I didn’t want to share my particular calling with everyone, including my own family.

At one point I got up the courage to enroll in a clairvoyant training course. But when my husband asked me what the course was about, I told him that I was “learning about chakras”. I felt so awkward about what I was doing that I couldn’t be totally honest even with my own husband.

I continued to hold myself back with the rest of the world, too. I would occasionally offer Akashic Records sessions and clearings, but I would hide behind my primary business at the time, my massage studio. I told the world that I was a massage therapist, while only revealing my true passions to a small number of clients.

But the more that I continued to do Akashic clearings for myself and others, I began to see the root causes of my fears. I was actually projecting my own judgments about myself on my husband as well as on everyone else. I felt awkward about my gifts myself, so I made up stories in my head that other people would judge me, too.

Finally, I knew that I wanted to bring my true self forward. I created the Akashic Records Institute three years ago, and I was ready to go public with my true calling. I hosted my first webinar to announce the Institute and offered a master class along with it. Now, I had 12 people on that first call.

But the most beautiful part of it was that one of the 12 people was my husband.

He was there to support me even though I didn’t ask him to be there. He signed up for the call on his own. And it made my heart sing.

And at that moment, I understood that all of my fears were in my mind. I was assuming that my husband would think what I was doing was weird. I assumed that he would judge me for it. It turns out that I was actually judging myself.

I share this story because I know many of you in my community feel this way. Many of you feel that the people in your life might not accept you if you shared your gifts. Maybe they might not even allow you to share your truth and your passion.

What I want to encourage you to do is to look at this in an honest way. Do you believe that it is really true, or are you simply assuming that sharing your gifts would put off the closest people in your life?

There are two things I know for sure. One is that that the people who love you will stick with you no matter what. The other is that making judgments and assumptions about how people will react and letting it hold you back will only cost you time and frustration. It will keep you from helping the people you were meant to help and from becoming the leader that you were meant to be.

Remember that what you have to share is important. It’s worth taking the chance and getting it out there. Chances are in the end that if you have doubts and fears about it, you’ll be pleasantly surprised.

Leaders embrace their authenticity. You hear about authenticity all the time. But it really is that important to just be yourself! The fear of actually putting yourself out there as the real you is pretty scary to many of us. You think you have to be perfect before you even show up. And I know from experience that this is simply not true.

When I first created the Akashic Records Institute, I felt very self-conscious about my English. I worried that my posts would have grammar mistakes. I worried that people wouldn’t understand me. I worried that because my English was not perfect that people wouldn’t listen.

Eventually, I started to show up anyway. I showed up and spoke my truth, whether my English was perfect or not. What I found was that many people who joined my community also felt self-conscious about their own English speaking skills. I became an inspiration for them to stop hiding and start showing up in their own truth.

What I learned was that the more I spoke up and shared my personal truth, the more I attracted the people who needed to hear my message.

So when you stand up and lead from your heart, letting go of any fear or worry about what people will think of you, you not only empower yourself but also you inspire and empower others.

Leaders connect to their intentions and follow them with passion. My passion started when I was young and living in Brazil. As I was growing up, I saw so many people struggling with their own self-worth. I saw people holding themselves back from their own brilliance. And so much of the struggling was due to cultural beliefs.

Cultural beliefs that encouraged people to reject abundance and not stand up for what they wanted. Cultural ideas that encouraged people to hold themselves back and keep themselves small.

It became my passion to set people free of these social constructs. It became an intention that I have devoted my life to through my work in the Akashic Records, and it has grown into a passion that I would go to the ends of the earth to share.

What is that passion and intention for you? If you haven’t found it yet, it will show up. The more you allow yourself to own your truth, ask for help, and embrace your authenticity the more likely that your Soul Purpose will reveal itself to you. And you will grow into the leader that you were born to be.

Honor your leadership. Never hold yourself back. Your gifts are too precious to stay inside of you. It’s time for that gift to go out into the world to empower the lives it was meant to empower. And tell the story it was meant to tell.
